Dear Dad,

But who was listening? A mere 11-year-old, a 10-year-old, a toddler, and a baby girl—staying at the Morehead Motor Inn or resting on a neighbor’s couch. We were kids who frequently changed schools, unaware of what we were truly missing.

You left us behind, but remember, Dad, you can always turn around. We will find you, or you will find us; somehow, we will reunite.

For almost 25 years, we longed to embrace you without barriers, to assure you that we are all okay. To meet face-to-face, not through glass, and to tell you that you are capable, Dad.
