Exploring My Journey: From CPA to Writer and Adventurer

Chapter 1: Introduction to My Life
Greetings! By day, I work as a CPA, and at night, I embrace my passion for writing, with weekends reserved for adventure. I'm always eager to find intriguing ideas to read, so feel free to share anything interesting!
Section 1.1: My Motivation for Writing
I decided to write out of my frustrations with personal finance. After college, I developed a keen interest in this field, diving into books and videos that helped me transition from merely surviving to feeling secure.
Yet, I often reflect on how much smoother my journey could have been with proper financial education.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, I began writing as a way to express my thoughts. Initially, I contemplated starting a website to share my ideas, but that seemed too complex for someone with my technical skills. Eventually, I discovered Medium, and it has become my platform for both writing and reading. If you know of any compelling writers or publications, please share!
Subsection 1.1.1: My Professional Life
In my professional life, I work as an Expert Witness Consultant, focusing on forensic accounting, economic damage assessments, and valuation disputes.
Like many, I often find myself working past the traditional 9 to 5, but the flexibility of my job allows me to embrace my writing pursuits in the evenings.
Section 1.2: The Shift to Writing
Writing isn’t the typical path for accountants, as I was more accustomed to navigating spreadsheets than crafting narratives.
However, a spark ignited within me after watching Matt Cutts’ TED Talk, "Try Something New for 30 Days." Inspired, I began incorporating new challenges into my routine, such as walking 10,000 steps daily and taking a photograph each day.
When the lockdown began in April 2020, my first challenge was to write a book in just 30 days. Though it took a bit longer, my book, "How to Adult In 50 Pages or Less," was published on Amazon in February 2021! Since then, I've fully embraced writing.
Chapter 2: Life Beyond Work
In this episode, Matt McDonough shares his journey as a two-time NCAA Champion from Iowa. Discover the challenges he faced and how he overcame them.
Section 2.1: Hobbies and Interests
Fortunately, my life is not just about work and writing. I’ve developed a variety of hobbies over time.
- I have a passion for learning and am currently working on playing the piano and learning Spanish.
- I love to travel whenever possible, and I recently relocated from Boston to Los Angeles.
- Despite my move, I remain a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins and the New England Revolution.
- While I only recently took up writing, I have always been an enthusiastic reader.
Subsection 2.1.1: My Writing Philosophy
My aim as a writer is to offer straightforward solutions to intricate financial issues, helping young adults lead intentional and financially independent lives. To keep my writing accessible, I often summarize my posts in 50 words or less, which you will find below.
