How Much Time Is Ideal for Video Games and TV Viewing?

Finding the Right Balance
When it comes to determining a "healthy" duration for activities like playing video games or watching television, the answer is quite straightforward: you should allocate as much time as you believe is beneficial without jeopardizing your personal objectives.
For instance, if aspiring to be a professional gamer is one of your life ambitions, then dedicating more time to gaming is warranted. Conversely, if video games do not bring you joy or value, then it’s best to minimize or eliminate that time entirely.
If you have other aspirations but still derive pleasure from gaming, you shouldn't deny yourself that enjoyment. The best approach is to plan specific time slots for these activities, ensuring they fit within your overall schedule.
For example, I allocate a dedicated half-hour each weeknight from around 9:30 to 10:00 PM to unwind with a TV show. I do not extend this time beyond the allotted slot; instead, I stop when it’s time to sleep. If the episodes are longer, I’ll only watch part of one.
Achieving a healthy balance between work and relaxation is essential. Being excessively driven or overly relaxed is detrimental to your well-being.

It's crucial to manage your time effectively. By prioritizing your essential tasks before indulging in leisure activities, you treat these moments as rewards rather than obligations. This approach also helps to mitigate procrastination, ensuring you focus on what truly matters.
