Maximize Your Writing Potential: Create and Engage!

Chapter 1: Embrace the Process of Writing
Writing consistently is key to honing your skills. Each article contributes to your growth as a writer.
Blogging on platforms like Medium can be quite demanding. It requires sustained effort over time. Many aspiring writers prioritize quality over quantity, which is commendable, especially once they have attracted a substantial following and engaged readership. However, for those just starting, it’s crucial to produce a greater volume of content. Avoid relying on AI-generated text, as Medium's algorithms are designed to detect such content.
Generating more articles increases your visibility to readers. You won’t truly understand your audience until you have published approximately 1,000 pieces. It’s essential for your writing to offer value; as you observe reader engagement, you will gain insights into what resonates and what doesn’t.
My primary advice for new Medium writers is this: Create more content! While it may feel challenging and creativity can wane at times, the process of writing multiple articles is vital. Composing a single article may seem easy, but generating a hundred ideas is a significant mental task.
However, with patience and persistence, it’s achievable. After formulating ten concepts, you can often come up with another ten. The more you write, the easier it becomes over time. Writing your 100th article will likely feel less daunting than your first.
Consequently, prioritize quantity alongside maintaining a reasonable standard of quality. Focus less on the number of claps and comments, and instead, concentrate on producing articles. Aim to create the best possible content without exhausting all your energy on a single piece. Writing just one article per week is insufficient; increasing your output is essential to enhance your online presence and connect with a larger audience.
Allocate time wisely for your articles: spend around 10 minutes on shorter pieces, 20-30 minutes on medium-length ones, and 40-60 minutes for longer articles. However, especially in the beginning, avoid focusing too much on lengthy content.
Make writing a daily habit. Establish a routine that allows for varied lengths; sometimes you may write 200 words, while other times you may craft 1,200 words. The key is to keep producing.
As I began this piece with the words "Sit Write," remember that’s all it takes to start. Grab your laptop and begin writing one article at a time. Set a goal to complete your first 100 pieces, then another 100, and so forth. With each step, you will gain experience, skills, and knowledge. Experiment, learn, and create — that’s the essence of being a writer!
