Reflections on a Summer's Night: Seeking Tenderness

Written on

Chapter 1: The Gentle Night

In the stillness of 3:30 AM, I step outside, contemplating whether the moon will grace me with its presence or if darkness will be my only companion. The moon, though not at its fullest, reflects the magnificence of the divine. I pause, captivated by its beauty, and ponder the question:

"How does God embody gentleness?"

My understanding of gentle tenderness is rooted in the coolness of the night air and the soothing sounds of chirping crickets. The scriptures tell us that God is gentle and peaceful, and while I grasp the essence of peace, I wonder: does true gentleness exist? Or is it merely a figment of my imagination?

It seems that human gentleness has faded into obscurity. Am I gentle? Are you? Do we even consider gentleness in our daily lives? I hope my endeavors reflect kindness, yet gentleness eludes me, almost like a fleeting shadow. What is life without a profound connection to God and Christ Jesus?

Thus, I embark on a quest to discover tenderness and gentleness—to truly witness them and, in turn, to witness God. Just as I feel the night air enveloping me, can one embody such gentleness? The Greek word "Eulogia" means blessing, while the Hebrew "Ruach" signifies wind, breath, mind, and spirit.

This poem is an original work by Bombay. Although I typically shy away from overtly spiritual themes, I felt an irresistible urge to pen these thoughts after engaging with an old lesson. Sometimes, my emotions surge like a fountain, inspiring me to include this piece in my upcoming book. For those unfamiliar with Christian Science, I encourage you to seek genuine insights from a practicing Christian Scientist rather than relying on secondhand information.

Recently, I discovered another remarkable female religious leader who shared a similar perspective on the core principles of Christian Science as its Founder. My excitement over this revelation has motivated me to write multiple blogs instead of just one.

If this poem resonates with you, I urge you to share it. Many individuals face bullying, neglect, hatred, and a pervasive lack of support. I hope more resources emerge to help alter this seemingly unchangeable reality. Different people perceive the world in diverse ways, but the truth remains: Love triumphs over all adversities, even for those who have suffered abuse. Love will find you—just listen.

Chapter 2: Embracing the Divine

This video, titled "ON A SUMMER NIGHT" by Deborah Hopkinson, beautifully illustrates the tranquility and wonder of a summer night, evoking feelings of gentleness and peace.

In this video, "Somethin about a summer night…," the essence of summer nights is captured, reminding us of the warmth and tenderness that can be found in nature and our connections to one another.
