Transformative Healing: Beyond Breathwork and Sister Circles

Chapter 1: The Essence of Healing
Healing transcends merely engaging in breathwork or participating in sister circles. At times, the remedy you seek may be something as simple as enjoying a drink and dancing with friends. This insight comes from someone who is a certified Breathwork and Meditation Facilitator.
The medicine that one person needs might be detrimental to another.
Reflecting on the pivotal weekend of August 26, 2022, I recall it as the moment that transformed my life. It marked the conclusion of my 12-week training as a Breathwork and Meditation Practitioner, filled with trauma-releasing breathwork, Kundalini awakenings, and soul activations. By the end of that experience, I emerged as a completely transformed individual.
I was fueled by a newfound determination to contribute to the healing of the world; it became part of my life’s purpose. I decided to leave my marketing and fitness career, relinquishing my work sponsorship in Australia, and embarked on a solo journey to New Zealand. For the subsequent 15 months, I delved deeper into my spiritual exploration.
This period was characterized by ecstatic dances, cacao ceremonies, Kambo rituals, extensive morning routines, and a commitment to somatic expressions. I adopted a lifestyle devoid of alcohol and limited carbs, practicing daily breathwork while embracing a mindset of being of service to the world. I consciously avoided low-frequency music, opting instead for tracks resonating at 362 hertz to maintain my vibrational integrity.
My goal was to embody the truest version of myself, especially as I sought to assist others in their healing journeys. I initially perceived all these practices as vital for my healing and the healing of the world. However, I began to lose sight of the broader context.
Healing is not solely about participating in ceremonial practices, sipping cacao, or engaging in daily shadow journaling. While I continue to appreciate various healing modalities, I no longer cling to these tools as solutions to "fix" myself or to attain some notion of spiritual perfection. The idea of spiritual perfection is a myth in our human experience.
A few months ago, I encountered a significant challenge in my business after relocating to Mexico. I faced a sudden drought of clients, which left me feeling lost and financially strained. It was a daunting period, prompting me to take a necessary break for mental clarity.
During this time, I disconnected from social media and volunteered at a co-living space for digital nomads. I indulged in beer, enjoyed nights out dancing, savored copious amounts of coffee, and limited my participation in healing ceremonies to just one. I didn't enroll in any additional healing sessions or workshops, and instead, I immersed myself in techno music, allowing myself to sleep in and enjoy late nights. I relished pizza and an abundance of delicious pastor tacos, with minimal focus on productivity hacks or reading.
What unfolded during this period was truly remarkable. I cultivated a profound sense of compassion for myself, which in turn enhanced my self-love. My relationships with family improved, and I found joy in life's simple pleasures. Laughter became a frequent companion, and tears flowed regularly, reflecting the depth of my emotional journey. I discovered beautiful connections around me, deepened my empathy, and became more present. Ultimately, I found clarity and realignment with my path.
In retrospect, my experience during that time may resemble a post-healing session for many, yet it diverged significantly from traditional healing practices. Enjoying beer, dancing, and exploring Mexico became my medicine.
Healing is not a one-size-fits-all journey. It varies from person to person and shifts with the different seasons of life. I still facilitate profound breathwork sessions and offer online coaching to empower women through validated healing methods and educational workshops. However, I recognize that not every moment is conducive to healing. You are not broken; you do not require fixing. Sometimes, healing may involve leaving a toxic job, severing unhelpful connections, or simply embracing more joyful moments with friends.
