If you’re an avid follower of Apple news, you’re likely aware that the iPhone mini series might be discontinued soon. Despite speculation that the mini size might reappear in future iPhone SE models, it seems we won’t see an iPhone 14 mini this fall.

This is disappointing, as I can’t quite grasp why the mini hasn’t performed well in sales or why it no longer fits Apple’s strategy, especially above the SE line.

The Heartbreaking Reality of the iPhone 13 Mini

I truly adore the iPhone 13 mini. Despite some recent battery issues, it remains, in my opinion, the most engaging, compact, and user-friendly iPhone available today.

I’m not alone in this sentiment; I continue to receive daily messages about the iPhone 13 mini on my blog and YouTube channel. Many people love it, but that doesn’t seem to translate to sales.

It's time for me to move forward.

The Need for Superior Camera Capabilities

I’ve never been one to rely heavily on my smartphone for video recording. This isn’t due to a lack of quality in the cameras—quite the opposite—it's just that I haven’t needed to use it much for that purpose.

However, that’s changing quickly. I’m planning to launch a new vlog channel on YouTube later this year, with my patrons currently testing my rough video attempts featuring everything from my coffee-making skills to attending cycling events.

As I refine my vlogging style, it’s clear I’ll need a phone that can capture high-quality content. While the iPhone 13 mini has been adequate, I’m eager to have the best tools at my disposal.

The Unexpected Favorite Travel Buddy

Apple has blurred the lines between its iPhone models when it comes to camera features, but the Pro Max often offers unique capabilities that the others lack. I suspect the iPhone 14 Pro Max will come equipped with outstanding optical features, perfect for my new vlogging journey. Plus, its size and battery longevity will be beneficial.

Surprisingly, I’ve become enamored with the Nothing Phone (1). This budget-friendly Android device is almost the same size as the Pro Max. I’ve realized that it’s not as cumbersome as I once thought, especially given its expansive screen.

The Surprising Alternative

After testing the iPhone 13 Pro Max, I was amazed by its incredible battery life.

While I don’t conduct rigorous tests on battery performance, I can share how it feels to use these devices. The battery longevity of the iPhone 13 Pro Max significantly enhances the user experience.

The comparison is akin to Apple’s M1 and M2 MacBooks, where the impressive battery life alleviates any anxiety about running out of power. The iPhone 13 Pro Max similarly allows you to stay untethered from chargers throughout the day without worry.

Final Thoughts

I’ve made my decision to switch to the iPhone 14 Pro Max, and I won’t be swayed, regardless of what new models Apple introduces later this year.

Some may view this as a reckless choice, while others might say I’ve compromised my integrity. But I stand firm in my reasoning.
