Rediscovering Your Passion: Embracing Your Dream Life Again

Chapter 1: A Shift in Perspective
Reflecting on my journey, I recall a year ago when I was overwhelmed with emotion, wishing to escape my nursing career.
These days, I find myself teary-eyed, not due to my job but because I'm uncertain about my next steps after leaving it. It took me an entire year to take the leap and resign from what I once considered my dream job.
However, much like many aspirations, the reality was far from my expectations.
I deeply value my experiences; even though I succeeded in making my dream of quitting a reality, it has left me feeling less invigorated about my everyday life.
The thought of seeking new clients, crafting content for existing ones, and lacking enthusiasm for leisure activities became burdensome.
Before succumbing to despair, I resolved to transform my life once more.
Here’s how I’m gradually falling back in love with the life I envisioned.
Section 1.1: Stop Settling for Less
Many professionals, particularly those in law, tend to settle for comfort.
Conversely, if you harbor lofty ambitions, settling is not an option. When you accept mediocrity, you hinder your potential to strive for greater achievements. For instance, I once informed my freelance clients about a rate increase to $100 per hour, up from $75. The anxiety of possibly losing them was palpable, even though they depended on my services.
For context, my previous nursing wage was a mere $35 an hour, with minimal annual raises.
The voice of complacency whispered, "You should be grateful for this substantial increase compared to your last job." While I felt gratitude, another voice urged me to aim higher.
"To manifest your financially independent lifestyle, it's essential to be compensated fairly for the significant value you provide. More income translates to more opportunities for growth and possibly hiring support down the line."
The more I understand about financial growth, the better equipped I become to delegate responsibilities like a genuine entrepreneur.
However, these conflicting thoughts will always be present. It's crucial to tune into the voice advocating for ambition.
By the way, I successfully secured that $25 hourly raise, despite my fears of losing clients.
Subsection 1.1.1: The Power of 'Acting As If'
One of the most intriguing yet transformative pieces of advice I received was to "act as if."
This principle involves embodying the belief that your dreams are already manifesting. For instance, at the start of my journey, I was focused on attracting $1,000. I had already figured out how to earn $100 and $500 online.
By embracing the belief that I was capable of generating $1,000, opportunities began to unfold. A writing assignment for four articles at $250 each came my way.
So, how did I embody this mindset?
I visualized and felt that $1,000 was already in my bank account and maintained that sentiment throughout my daily life. I engaged with others on social media—actions I would normally hesitate to take—and soon after, a connection needed a writer. That led to my first writing opportunity.
When you truly believe in your goals, you naturally radiate the energy that attracts those opportunities. This energy influences your actions, both online and offline.
You may not be aware of it, but your subconscious is diligently working on your behalf.
All that is required is to embody the state of "acting as if."
Section 1.2: Nurturing Your Soul
I realized I had neglected the small joys in life.
I stopped dancing around my home.
I ceased journaling each night.
I abandoned writing for my own pleasure.
Caught in the confusion of my new self-employed status, I overlooked the simple activities that once brought me happiness, creating a cycle of anxiety and low spirits.
One day, I made the decision to re-engage with the healthy habits I had previously cultivated.
Within just a few days, I noticed a positive shift. I regained energy for my hobbies and was flooded with ideas. Most importantly, I returned to writing for my own enjoyment.
There’s a reason self-care is often repeated: it truly works.
Regardless of the activities you choose to uplift your spirits, they serve as vital nutrients for your soul. They can also alleviate pain, but mainly, they act as essential vitamins.
These practices prevent you from spiraling downward and brighten each day.
Final Thoughts
This experience of drifting away from your dream life won't be the first or the last.
However, remaining conscious of your thoughts is vital to learn how to redirect them. This journey isn't solely about maintaining a positive outlook; it's about understanding what drives you in this world and how to rebound after setbacks.
Learning to fall in love with your life is perhaps the most meaningful gift you can offer to the world.
